Found guilty rap mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs has written a correspondence to the presiding judge overseeing his court proceedings, seeking leniency during his sentencing hearing on Friday and blaming his past behaviour on drug addiction.

In the multi-page document, he says sorry "for all of the pain and suffering that I have caused" and asserts that he has been transformed after completing 13 months in a correctional institution.

The correspondence on Thursday comes shortly prior to his sentencing hearing at 10:00 ET (15:00GMT) on Friday.

In July, he was convicted of two commercial sex-related counts and now could receive up to 20 years in detention. The prosecution are advocating for a prison term of at least 11 years, but Combs' legal team are arguing that he be freed later this month.

Apology to Ex-Girlfriend

In his letter to the presiding judge, Combs apologises for assaulting his ex-girlfriend, singer Casandra Ventura, declaring: "I completely lost control".

"I'm sorry for that and always will be," he goes on. "My family abuse will always be heavy burden that I will have to enduringly shoulder."

He also offers apologies to an unidentified female who testified during the trial under the name "Jane" and says he became "overwhelmed by narcotics and indulgence".

"I went astray," he wrote. "My collapse was originated from my selfishness. I have been humbled and broken to my foundation."

Victims' Perspectives

Combs' complainants have also written to the presiding officer, detailing how he wielded his power and influence to damage their wellbeing, and their fears that he would pursue vengeance if released.

"I am so scared that if he is released, his primary responses will be quick revenge towards me and others who spoke up," wrote Ms Ventura.

She added that she thinks he deserves a long sentence, writing: "He has no interest in changing or making positive changes. He will always be the same cruel, power-hungry, manipulative man that he is."

Personal Change Arguments

In his personal statement, Combs describes educating a class to incarcerated individuals on "what I did to become a successful business man", portraying himself as a reformed character who is now sober for the first time in 25 years.

"The old me died in jail and transformed individual was given new life," he declares.

Combs goes on to seek leniency from the official, "not only for my sake, but for the welfare of my children". He requested the judge to factor in his seven kids, and his aging maternal figure who experienced cranial procedure.

He notes that the court official might be inclined to use him as a warning and instead petitions that he be made an example of "what a individual can do if granted a opportunity for redemption".

Legal Proceedings

Combs is also anticipated to make statements in the courtroom on Friday before the court official delivers his judgment. Multiple attorneys are also slated to speak, and his defence team also plans to show a recorded presentation. It's unknown what the recording may include.

In July, a legal tribunal found him not guilty of the most serious accusations: organized crime and sex trafficking - which could have led to him serving a life sentence behind bars. He was determined culpable of two charges of arranging travel for commercial sex.

Prosecutors say he is "lacking contrition" and contended the music artist should serve a at least 11 years in incarceration.

"The defendant seeks to reinterpret decades of abuse as simply the result of equally damaging partnerships," prosecutors stated in a recent court document. "But there is nothing mutual about a partnership where one person holds all the power and the other ends up bloodied and bruised."
