Indianapolis Colts Battle Atlanta Falcons in Berlin – NFL Week 10

Hello, fussball enthusiasts. Wie gehts? Alles klar I hope on this excellent morning kickoff to the tenth week coming directly from Germany. Berlin's Olympic Stadium to be exact where at 8.30am CST/9.30am EST and 2.30pm GMT the mighty Colts (7-2) take on the Atlanta Falcons (3-5). The fifth game played on German soil and the first in the capital city.

Pre-match Key Moments

When it comes to glittering attire that is an absolute belter from the Olympic figure skater on the coin toss. A minor slip from the broadcast team there as we hear “which team got the coin flip?” from the commentator with an unfortunately hot mic.

Well, the coin toss went to Indianapolis and have chosen to get the ball first. The Colts' offense will be taking the field soon. Can the quarterback recover after a difficult performance in Pittsburgh?

Not to be outdone the vocalist performing the US national anthem has some of the largest shoulder pads you are bound to notice. Loving the sartorial choices today. We are almost underway after a choral number for the national anthem of Germany. Elegant.

Opening Period Action

Colts 0-0 Falcons 13:30, 1st quarter

And we're off! And we have early drama after the Colts running back receives a short throw, gains 15 yards on the outside to the right side then loses the ball … only for his offensive lineman to save his bacon with the recovery. Indianapolis quickly moves into Atlanta's half.

Still scoreless at 10:51

And the drama keeps coming as the Colts go for it on 4th down. The gamble fails to pay off as the wide receiver fails to catch a fastball from the quarterback. On the play before the turnover on downs the Falcons defender put a huge hit on the Colts' tight end. Atlanta's defense started strong as they attempt to end their three-game losing streak. Following that, Sauce Gardner makes his first appearance!

Touchdown Recap

First score: Colts lead 6-0 at 8:36

Did Kyle Pitts just drop a touchdown? The Falcons player makes a crucial error, he was wide open but the ball just swishes through his hands. That play rather sums up the first round pick’s career to date.

So far, so disappointing but it only gets worse for the Atlanta as they turn over possession to the Colts on the 23-yard line. Michael Penix Jr is sacked and fumbles the football.

A nifty 22-yard run from Ashton Dulin sets Jonathan Taylor up to easily run for a touchdown on the following play. The placekicker misses the point after attempt. Mistake.

Falcons respond: 6-7 at 6:07

The quarterback recovers from the turnover by marching his Falcons down the field for a touchdown. Drake London makes some chunky receptions to put them in the red zone then the seas part for Tyler Allgeier to saunter on to the goal line through the heart of the field for 13 yards. He completes the drive for a one-yard touchdown of his own. The Falcons take the lead.

Other Week 10 Matchups

And for afters, the jumbo package starting at 1 PM EST and 6 PM GMT (home teams listed first) is as follows:

  • (5-4) Carolina Panthers v New Orleans Saints (1-8)

  • (5-3) Bears v Giants (2-7)

  • (3-5) Houston Texans v Jacksonville Jaguars (5-3)

  • (2-7) Miami Dolphins v Buffalo Bills (6-2)

  • (4-4) Vikings v Ravens (3-5)

  • (1-7) Jets v Cleveland Browns (2-6)

  • (6-2) Buccaneers v Patriots (7-2)

An exciting lineup. My pick for the best game is Minnesota and Baltimore playing out the top contest of the day.
