Germany's airport in Munich has cancelled more than a dozen flights due to unmanned aerial vehicles were spotted in proximity to its flight paths.

At least seventeen flights were cancelled in the city, affecting nearly three thousand travelers.

The airport stated it rerouted a additional fifteen aircraft to close-by locations.

No quick verification was available of where the drones had come from. A number of airports across the European continent have halted operations in recent weeks because of unidentified drones.

Munich is at the moment holding the yearly Oktoberfest celebration, which is scheduled to conclude on October 5. The festival attracts more than six million people attendees a each year, according to the official website.
