Expedition 33 Sweeps at the 2025 Golden Joystick Ceremony
The 43rd annual Golden Joystick Awards took place this past week, and in a stunning performance, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 emerged as the biggest winner. This surprise role-playing game from Sandfall Interactive secured the esteemed Game of the Year award, along with prizes for Superb Storytelling and Excellence in Visuals.
Enhancing the developer's triumph, the gifted performers also garnered individual awards. Jennifer English won Top Lead Actor for her performance as Maelle, while Ben Starr took home Supporting Performance Award for his work as Verso. Additionally, Sandfall Interactive the studio received Best Development Team. Altogether, Clair Obscur and its makers won 7 awards during the ceremony.
Additional major winners featured Ghost of Yōtei, which won Best Audio Design and Best Console Game, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, receiving Best Indie Game (Self-Published) and Premier PC Title. Worth mentioning, the bulk of Golden Joystick Awards are voted on by the public, with only four special—Critics’ Choice, Breakthrough Award, Hall of Fame, and Streamer Selection—decided by reviewers.
