The celebrated UK star Mirren, previously recipient of an Academy Award, four Baftas, three Golden Globes, multiple Emmy accolades, along with a Tony Award, is set to receive another major award to her collection: the DeMille Golden Globe lifetime achievement award.

Honors Presentation

Mirren, 80, previously honored as a dame during 2003 and named a BAFTA fellow in 2014, will pick up the accolade in a ceremony January 8, shortly before the Golden Globes main event take place, within a ceremony promoted by the Golden Globes as Golden Eve.

Additionally featuring the bestowal of the Golden Globes’ Carol Burnett honor for small-screen contributions, the recipient of which remains unannounced. Previous recipients included Viola Davis and Ted Danson.

“Mirren stands as a powerhouse performer, and her professional journey is truly remarkable,” said the Golden Globes president, the Globes’ leader. “Her transcendent performances and commitment to her craft persistently influence numerous actors and fans too. We are deeply honored to award her this lifetime achievement honor.”

Professional Journey

Helen Mirren gained prominence during the seventies via important performances in stage productions in London’s theater district and with the RSC and in films such as O Lucky Man!, Caligula & The Long Good Friday.

Back in the 90s, her prominent part in the crime series Prime Suspect broadened her fanbase even more. Other key films feature Excalibur, The Madness of King George, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park & Calendar Girls.

She earned an Academy Award for her portrayal as Queen Elizabeth II in the 2006 movie The Queen, a character she reprised during 2013 in The Audience, the theatrical work from Peter Morgan concerning the sessions with the Queen and prime minister the former PM, a role for which she earned a Tony during 2015.

Current and Forthcoming Appearances

• Subsequent cinematic works comprise Hitchcock, The Last Station, Woman in Gold, The Debt, Golda & Barbie, where she served as narrator.
• Her performance in the streaming adaptation of The Thursday Murder Club has received positive reviews and honors speculation is building about her portrayal as a dying matriarch in the film by Kate Winslet initial directorial project, Goodbye June.
• Next year, audiences will see Mirren portraying Patricia Highsmith in Corbijn’s dramatic film, Switzerland.

Globes nominations will be announced December 8, with Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another, the movie from Chloé Zhao Hamnet and Ryan Coogler’s Sinners expected to feature heavily.
