Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Claims Involving Player the Athlete
The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening confirming they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and were in contact with the NFL.
The organization omitted the name of Rice specifically in their announcement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.
Allegations Shared on Social Media
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, posted a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.
Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File
No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.
Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles
Rice missed the first six games of this season following an NFL suspension for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals hurt. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.
